ABOUT IBARA

Your agents. Your computers.

ibara is free, open-source computer-use software built for Omarchy. It gives AI agents their own desktops on the Omarchy computers you own, for developers who want agents working while they keep working on theirs.

What ibara does

Computer use for your existing agent

ibara connects agents such as Claude Code, Codex, opencode and omp to a computer’s browser and desktop apps through MCP tools. Your agent can click, type, move files and check the result on a real desktop.

One view of your computers

The console brings your connected computers together so you can see which are ready, watch work and take control. Each computer keeps its own permissions, apps and files.

Interface checks with evidence

Give your agent a computer to try the interface it built: open the menu, fill in the form and see what happens. It can return screenshots, files and a report you can inspect.

Optional hands-on setup

Tyler offers paid help connecting computers, setting up your agent and running your first task together. Fleet planning, troubleshooting and custom integrations are quoted separately through Setup and support.

What makes ibara different

A computer you keep, with a $0 software price

ibara runs on hardware you own, with no ibara subscription or rented-computer bill. Services such as E2B provide hosted microVM sandboxes; ibara instead puts your own persistent computers to work.

The whole desktop, beyond the browser

Browserbase provides cloud browsers for web automation. ibara gives your agent a desktop with browsers, native apps and the files on that computer, so a task can move between applications.

Your work and the agent’s work have separate resources

The setup ibara is built around is two computers: yours and a spare for the agent. The spare runs the apps, while the model runs wherever your agent already runs; it does not need a GPU to host the model.

One active driver, with a clear handoff

You can watch without interrupting, take control when you need to step in, and hand the computer back. One person or agent drives each desktop at a time, and each computer enforces its access permissions.

Built for Omarchy, with published checks

ibara lives in the Omarchy shell and follows your theme. Its test results and benchmarks publish dated evidence and limitations, including failures.

Hosted capacity is useful when you need disposable environments or rapid scaling without owning hardware. The full comparison explains where those options fit better.

Who uses ibara

ibara is built for people who already use agents and want to give them another place to work:

  • Omarchy developers with a spare laptop, mini PC or desktop for their agents.
  • Software builders checking interfaces with a real browser, mouse, keyboard and desktop apps.
  • People running several agents who want separate computers for concurrent tasks.
  • Owners of small home or office fleets who want to watch, move files and take control themselves.

These are the intended users, not a claim about customer numbers. See the requirements for current platform support.

The team behind ibara

Tyler Mayberry, creator and developer

is an AI systems builder and product engineer who builds software, agents and tools for everyday work. ibara is his independent project for giving agents computers of their own while people keep using theirs.

The project puts spare hardware at the center: a computer with its own desktop, apps and resources, connected to the agent you already use. Tyler builds the software and is the person you work with for paid setup.

Tyler also builds Cirlet, free software and AI and automation help for independent insurance agencies. ibara’s own setup and support stay here on ibara.app.

How ibara works

Start with your computers

Install ibara on supported computers connected through Tailscale, pair them, and connect your MCP-capable agent. The installation guide walks through setup, and the first-task guide gives you something concrete to try.

Give the agent work and stay in control

You ask your agent for a task; ibara gives it tools to use an available computer and return results. You can watch, approve actions when asked, or take over; your agent’s model provider may still receive screenshots and task details.

Work directly with Tyler when you want help

For paid help, email Tyler through Setup and support with what you have and what you want to do. You agree the scope, price and schedule before work starts; no fixed response time or turnaround is promised on this site.

Frequently asked questions

Is ibara another AI agent?

No. ibara gives the agent you already use tools to work on your computers; the conversation and reasoning stay in your agent.

Is ibara free?

Yes, the software is free and open source, with no ibara subscription. Paid setup and support are optional; your hardware, electricity and agent provider have their own costs.

Does the spare computer run the model?

No. It runs the desktop, browser and apps, while the model runs wherever your agent already runs.

Which operating systems does it support?

ibara is built for Omarchy. Ubuntu, Windows, macOS and other Linux distributions aren’t supported, and none are planned: every release goes deeper into Omarchy. Check the requirements for the supported desktop components, and the roadmap for what’s next.

Is everything private and offline?

The apps and files live on your computers, and each computer controls access. Your agent may send screenshots and task details to its model provider; the access and data guide explains what leaves the computer.

Can Tyler set it up with me?

Yes. Use Setup and support to describe your computers and goals; Tyler will confirm the scope and price before work starts.
